Weeva is a startup aiming to promote sustainable practices to tourism businesses across the 4Cs of ecotourism.
I led the design team to define, design and test a digital platform that empowers users by guiding them through their sustainability journey.

THE CHALLENGE
Allow properties to easily monitor and improve their sustainability.
the APPROACH
Simplifying the capturing and displaying of complex sustainability metrics in a unified platform.
DESIGN SYSTEM
To ensure a consistent and unified experience across the platform and website, we crafted a design system that provides all the technical styles, states and use cases for the various system components. This system allowed the design and developer teams to quickly roll out cohesive experiences across the platform. Any later changes to these components would be instantly synced across the existing designs making things easy to update and manage.
UX & UI DESIGN
To better understand and solve the user pain points, we worked with sustainability experts to map out the system as an interactive wireframe. This allowed us to quickly iterate on ideas and ensure all the system functionality was accurate. We then applied the design system and created dev-ready UI designs of all system features.
USABILITY TESTING
To better understand if the design approach was effective in simplifying and clarifying the 4C sustainability framework, we conducted multiple rounds of usability testing with design prototypes. This provided qualitative insights into what works, what needs improvement, and what needs to be rethought. I then applied these insights to the designs, and saw the system was 13% more usable. This was done before developer handover which reduced the overall development time.
ONGOING PRODUCT SUPPORT
After the initial product design period of 12 weeks, we continued to support the Weeva team on a monthly basis for over a year, leading the design of 6 new features and the full version 2 redesign of the platform after being in the market for 2 years.
